The Spirit of Dance

Lillian is a girl of mixed Indigenous and white ancestry who is being shuffled to her seventh foster home.

At school, she doesn’t fit in with the white kids, and she doesn’t fit in with the Indigenous kids either. Lillian is a complex, not-always-lovable hero, but she eventually finds a sense of peace and belonging through a surprising spirit that returns her to traditional ways.

Lillian & Kokomis: The Spirit of Dance is the second book in the UpRoute Indigenous ‘Spirit of Nature’ series. Written by Sixties Scoop voice Lynda Partridge, Lillian & Kokomis speaks to issues of Indigenous reconciliation, foster homes and residential schools, language and legends, and Indigenous ways of knowledge.

Why Are You Still Here? continues the story of Lillian & Kokomis, the award-winning book about a complex and not-always-lovable foster kid.

In Why Are You Still Here? Lillian furthers her sense of belonging through her connection with a surprising spirit who returns her to traditional ways, legends, and Indigenous knowledge.

She and her buddies also uncover the mystery of ghosts and spirits living behind a family farm window.

When a mischievous spirit boy begins appearing outside her window, taunting her with his antics, Lillian is determined to uncover the truth. With her Kokum and Auntie by her side, and friends Chloe and Grace joining the adventure, Lillian's gift of seeing and communicating with spirits leads them on an unforgettable journey.

Can she solve the mystery of the Spirit Rider, or will she discover something even more unexpected?

Embrace Your Divine Flow

Created by a collective of spiritual practitioners, Embrace Your Divine Flow combines ‘evolvements’ in the form of allegorical stories, with exercises and activities that encourage readers to undertake their own journeys of healing and wisdom.

The substantive investigation asked of authors was: “What is your connection to the divine—whether it be God, the source, the light, the power of the universe, or Newet’sine, the Creator? How does this connection to the divine flow a path of least resistance along your river of life and beyond, and how might you share this?”

Authors’ themes include sacred places, sound and sensuality, ancestors, magic and imagination, infinity, authenticity, spirits, and gratitude.

Lynda collaborated with other authors on this book and wrote chapter 13, "Tough Love"

Secrets of the Forsaken

Secrets of the Forsaken: Into the Depths of Dread plunges you into a realm of dark fantasy, supernatural terrors, and chilling horror.

These tales of restless ghosts, vengeful poltergeists, and seductive, forbidden magic will leave you questioning what is real and what is ... otherworldly. From occult secrets and sinister rituals to haunting glimpses of the afterlife and fearsome creatures of the forest, this collection captures the terrifying and the unexplainable.

Through vivid narration and bone-chilling soundscapes, Secrets of the Forsaken weaves ancient Indigenous oral traditions with bold new creativity, forming an experience that is both timeless and transcendent.

Reviews

“I love [The Spirit of Dance]. I think everyone, not just children, should read it. With gentle empathy and joyous hope, Lynda Partridge paints the heartbreaking realities lived by far too many young people, while simultaneously generating optimism. She describes what is possible when we provide opportunities for generations to heal and lead us forward. The possibilities are both tremendous and endless.”
